If you are looking to work with a team you would trust to treat your own pets, apply today. Open positions are listed below, but there doesn’t have to be an opening to be considered. Our area is experiencing rapid population growth, so we are always looking for the right additions to our furever growing team! Maybe you will be the newest team member at Bartram Trail Veterinary Hospital.
Associate Veterinarian - (1 Active Full-Time or Part-Time Opportunity)
Are you a compassionate and skilled veterinarian looking for an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of animals and their owners? Do you have a passion for preventative medicine like us? Look no further – we're thrilled to invite you to become a part of our dedicated veterinary team!
Bartram Tail Veterinary Hospital is looking for a new part- or full-time Associate Veterinarian to join our growing team!
We are a well-established, progressive, 3-doctor, small animal practice located in Saint Augustine, FL. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, Digital radiology, Ultrasonography, Medical and/or Vacation Boarding, and more.
We welcome applicants who are new grads needing mentorship and support from other veterinarians in the practice as well as team members who are familiar with the daily ins and outs, or a more experienced vet wanting to conquer new challenges in their career and maybe focus on a new discipline. There is a place for both at Bartram Trail Veterinary Hospital.
We have a hard-working group with a positive attitude that cares for our patient base which is primarily dog and cat…with the occasional sick rat/guinea pig/rabbit and a cockatiel toenail trim for variety. The team is supportive of each other and has good chemistry together from veterinarians, receptionists, veterinary technicians, and assistants to the kennel crew. We help each other and can be a bit silly sometimes (fair warning), but we are serious about the care we provide to our patients.
The hospital is a free-standing veterinary hospital plus a boarding facility. It is a privately owned business that was opened in 2006. There are several nearby specialty veterinary hospitals (internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology) for difficult cases. Emergency and urgent cases are referred to one of the three 24/7 emergency clinics, one after-hour emergency clinic, and one urgent care clinic.
We are open Mondays through Fridays 8 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm. There is no after-hours emergency coverage required. A full-time position is 4 days a week with a rotating Saturday schedule, and it is rare for our team to need to stay much past closing time. It is not a flex for us to stay late! The part-time schedule will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Our veterinary capabilities include in-house CBC and serum chemistry analyzers, a tonometer, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, high-speed dental drill/scaler/polisher unit, microscope, laser therapy, isoflurane anesthesia machines, multi-parameter patient monitoring equipment, ultrasound, ophthalmoscope, otoscope, and doppler blood pressure. We have a committed surgical suite, 2 wet tables, a dental table, and a dry table in the spacious treatment area. There are four exam rooms with plenty of elbow room. Our records are maintained on our Intranet software for easy access. Teams work as a pair of veterinary technicians/assistants for each doctor to ensure smooth flow and a helping hand. The standard appointments are 30 minutes long, giving you more time to discuss concerns and education with owners.
Outside of the hospital, there are beaches, the St Johns River, historic St Augustine, a professional football team, and several state and national parks for camping and hiking. We are also located near Orlando and the theme parks, so a weekend or day trip is an easy drive.
The area is growing with lots of new people and homes. There are 2 new high schools nearby, as well as new K-8 schools. St Johns County has consistently had one of the highest-ranking school systems in the state. New patients/clients are making appointments with us every day. There are more doodles and Frenchies than you can shake a stick at.
Our team likes to get together for outings a have some “non-hospital” time together too. Paints with a Twist, glass blowing, zip-lining and a haunted pub tour in St Augustine are a few of the activities we have done. Team members have also participated in walks in support of Brain Cancer Awareness, Canine Companions for Independence, and a local High School.
Our base salary for the full-time position is $99,000-$125,000 based on experience. A part-time contract would be negotiated based on the schedule agreed upon. We have always paid our veterinarians a fixed salary so to minimize “running up the bill”, but you will also have the freedom and flexibility to try new techniques and skills. We are open to new ideas, techniques, and protocols and we discuss and update our procedures regularly between doctors and management.
