    “Squall” – A King (who had a scruffy side)…

Whenever we whispered “Squall,” you could almost see the mix of reverence, mischief, and a whole lot of love that followed. This wasn’t your ordinary feline overlord; Squall, a majestic blend of domestic and wild, could curdle milk with a single glance. His bond with Eric began over ground chicken, forming a connection that knew no bounds. Picture a cat palace fit for royalty, a personal chef, and a butler who understood the importance of weekly squirrel buffets (observed only from the luxurious comfort of the indoors, of course).

Squall, however, wasn’t a big fan of sharing his domain. Enter Jessica, the fearless soul who dared to breach his defenses. Their most memorable clash involved a pilfered pork chop and a black eye that rivaled any pirate’s. Yet Jessica persevered, slowly earning Squall’s begrudging tolerance (or maybe just mastering selective deafness). For 19 glorious years, Squall graced us with his presence. He hunted laser pointers with the intensity of a lion minus the mane. Visitors were subjected to his withering stare, a judgment so powerful it could make grown men question their life choices. In his golden years, Squall granted Jessica the ultimate honor: not just chin scratches, but full-fledged lap sits, pets, and rumbling purrs.

Though Squally has left us, his memory remains. It lingers in our tearful tales, in the faint scent of catnip, and in Jessica’s unwavering dedication to all felines, no matter their daring pork chop escapades. So raise a toast of tuna juice to Squall – the king with a scruffy side, the grump with a heart of gold, and the cat who eventually warmed to the idea of a second human.

Special thanks to Dr. Davis for keeping our feisty feline healthy and happy all those years, and for ensuring a dignified goodbye!
